Nissan North America, Inc. 2004 - 2005 Essential Tool and Equipment Update

OVERVIEW

Nissan makes it a priority to ensure your customers receive the highest level of repair during their service experience. As you are aware, Nissan vehicle technology & specifications, and government & EPA regulations are continuously evolving. This requires your service department to have the latest essential tools and equipment needed to service and maintain Nissan products, and to fulfill Nissan’s warranty and service obligations to the consumer . This communication is to announce Nissan’s schedule to update your existing essential equipment, introduce a new essential tool, and provide advanced notice of 2005 essential tool and equipment upgrades. The roll-out schedule, and details are as follows:

 

2004  

Pro-Cut PFM 9.0 On-Car Brake Lathe (OCL), replaces the AMMCO 710 OCL to meet Nissan’s rotor run-out specification of 0.001". The older AMMCO 710 OCL, an essential tool in 1989, is caliper mounted, requires more time to set up, and does not perform with the consistency and accuracy required by today’s brake technology, which can result in improper repairs and poor customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Pro-Cut PFM 9.0 OCL features automatic compensation, which increases consistency at the tighter tolerances.

 

The Pro-Cut PFM 9.0 OCL is essential to achieve a high quality repair, and was selected based upon its accuracy of cut, and ease of set-up.

In the event your dealership wants their Pro-Cut PFM 9.0 OCL before the October shipment, we are pleased to announce a Special Early Bird Offer that allows you the opportunity to order your Pro-Cut PFM 9.0 OCL today at the same essential price of $7,675. Also, if you choose to pay with check during the early bird order period, you will receive a 3% cash discount off the Essential $7,675 price. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery, and refer to the attached flyer to prioritize your order. This offer expires September 15, 2004.

 

Special Finance Terms - 30/60/90 Equal Payments Option through DES

A 30/60/90 Equal Payments option is available for both Special Early Bird and normal Essential shipments, which incurs an extra 2% cost of capital charge of $153.50 through your Dealer Equipment and Services (DES) open account. To take advantage of this option, please fill out the Special Early Bird flyer for Pro-Cut OCL orders placed before September 15, and use Attachment ‘A’ for Pro-Cut OCL orders placed after September 15, 2004.

 

Equivalent On-Car Brake Lathe

We have taken into consideration that Nissan dealerships may own a Pro-Cut PFM 900/9.0/9.2 series OCL, or Hunter 360A/360A-LT-PRO On-Car Brake Lathe, which is hub-mounted, with the fully automatic compensation feature. Dealers that purchased the Pro-Cut PFM 900/9.0/9.2 series, or Hunter 360A/360A-LT-PRO series OCLs through the TECH-MATE Program will be excluded from the essential equipment distribution.

 

J-47242 Engine Support Table a new essential tool for current Altima (L31), Maxima (A34), Murano (Z50), and Quest (V42) vehicle platforms, which require engine removal from the bottom.

 

2005 – Future Essential Tools and Equipment

A new Air Conditioning Service Center will replace the ACR4 unit to meet Nissan’s tighter charge accuracy specification. Also, the older ACR4, which was an essential tool in 1993, does not perform with the consistency and accuracy required by today’s A/C systems.

CONSULT III / NGDS (Next Generation Diagnostic System) – This is an all new unit being developed by Nissan, which will replace CONSULT II for diagnosing major vehicle systems including engine, automatic transmission, ABS, CAN, cruise control, air bag, traction control, in-vehicle multiplex system and smart entrance control unit.

Your customers expect that any service, whether maintenance or highly technical repair, will be performed flawlessly. To achieve this, having well-trained technicians with the right information and tools is critical. Nissan will continue to evaluate the vehicle technology on our new model vehicles, develop special tools and identify essential equipment to increase your shop productivity, improve customer satisfaction, and grow profits.
