US Postal Service Picks Pro-Cut's PFM900 SmartLathe
26 units installed in mid-Atlantic region
May 5, 2000
Pro-Cut International has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Postal Service to supply the Pro-Cut PFM900 SmartLathe to all 26 vehicle maintenance facilities in the mid-Atlantic region. The units will be installed in the first quarter of 2000.
The U.S. Postal Service has recently added a Ford-based delivery vehicle to their fleet. In 1998, Ford tested all brake lathes and determined the Pro-Cut gave the preferred results. They then purchased over 5,500 units, one for each of their North American dealers. "We have seen a growing need for on-car lathes in our business," said Ron Barefoot, Mid-Atlantic Vehicle Maintenance Program Analyst for the Postal Service. "Brake repair is a way of life in our department. We are performing brake service every 3,000 to 6,000 miles and Pro-Cut's PFM900 provides an excellent solution to improving our productivity."
Paul Ebert, director of national accounts for Pro-Cut oversaw the installation of the lathes. "The vehicle maintenance facilities were very responsive to the new equipment," said Ebert, "many saw the new PFM900 as a way to improve the overall quality of the brake job while providing a tremendous labor savings, especially on trucks."
Pro-Cut International Ltd., LLC markets a growing range of proprietary brake repair tools including the patented Discus rotor measuring system and the Pro-Cut series of on-car brake lathes. The company is located in West Lebanon, NH.
