Pro-Cut Offers Used Lathes Free to Vo-Techs
February 4, 2000
Vocational Schools that teach brake service can receive a used model VBG620 Pro-Cut brake lathe for free. Pro-Cut International is offering this program for a limited time.
"Development of the new Pro-Cut PFM900 computerized lathe has created a large supply of used manual lathes," said Pro-Cut's Seth Dunnett who is overseeing the program. "We are looking for a way to put these machines back in service. If we can create a little goodwill in the meantime, all the better."
Pro-Cut has donated equipment to other programs including inner city efforts aimed at getting kids off the street and into productive careers. This is the company's first direct offer to the collective vo-tech community. "These manual lathes are perfect for vo-tech applications," said Dunnett, "the students need to perform runout compensation in order to work the lathe. Understanding this concept gives students an appreciation for the principles behind effective brakes."
Pro-Cut is a good machine to learn on since it is the only on-car lathe approved by Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors. Lathe packages general sell for around $6,000.
Schools will need to purchase certain accessories in order to operate the lathe. A two-adapter starter kit is being offered for $1,695 ($2,325 value) which includes shipping and on site training. Interested parties can call Seth Dunnett at 800-543-6618, or email info@procutinternational.com.
Pro-Cut International Ltd., LLC markets a growing range of proprietary brake repair tools including the patented Discus rotor measuring system and the Pro-Cut series of on-car brake lathes. The company is located in West Lebanon, NH.
