Pro-Cut to Deliver On-Car Lathes to North American Ford Dealers

Pro-Cut Now Only On-Car Lathe Approved by All Big Three Auto Manufacturers

Ford Motor Company has selected the Pro-Cut VBG 620, a hub-mounted on-car brake lathe, for use in all of their North American dealerships. Pro-Cut lathes will be delivered to Ford dealers beginning in January 1998.

 

Ford engineers began evaluating the Pro-Cut lathe two years ago. "The process has been long but very rewarding from a product perspective," said Pro-Cut VP Paul Hooper, "by working together with the Ford engineers we were able to improve the lathe while also addressing the specific needs of Ford. There's no question that Ford's exhaustive evaluation process netted improvements to the lathe that will be recognized by all customers."

 

Delivery of Pro-Cut lathes to Ford dealers in the US and Canada will take ten months. An extensive training effort has been developed that includes text, video, CD-ROM and satellite broadcasts, as well as toll free support and training classes at 80 regional training centers. "Given the results we've been able to achieve with Ford, we look forward to creating similar relationships with other manufacturers and national service centers," said Hooper.

 

In endorsing the Pro-Cut lathe, Ford joins General Motors and Chrysler both of whom have approved only the Pro-Cut for use by their dealers. Chrysler named Pro-Cut in their 1996 warranty bulletin D-96-39 that first allowed dealers to machine rotors on-car for warranty repair. General Motors completed an exhaustive evaluation in 1995 that found the Pro-Cut superior to the other on-car lathes tested.
